Orthopedic Surgery
Please call us for more information about our hospital's orthopedic services. Some procedures we provide include:
- Medial Patellar Luxation Repair – most commonly in small-breed dogs, the knee-cap goes in and out of its groove which can cause pain and arthritic changes. Surgical repair can improve comfort and slow the progression of arthritis.
- Cruciate Ligament Repair – a torn ACL (called a CCL in pets) is a common condition in dogs. There are multiple surgical options for dogs with a torn CCL. We provide a procedure known as an extra-capsular repair (lateral suture technique). A consultation with our surgeon will need to be scheduled to determine if this is the right choice for your pet. Some dogs do better with a TPLO or a TTA procedure for their cruciate tears. If these are recommended, a referral to a boarded veterinarian surgeon can be made.
- Femoral Head & Neck Excision (FHO) – this procedure removes the femoral head from the hip joint to alleviate pain in an injured or diseased joint.
- Fracture Repair – we can provide some fracture repair at our facility. A consultation will need to be made to determine if we are the best fit for your surgical needs.
