Ferrets are currently the only pocket pet to receive vaccines. They are vaccinated annually for Rabies. They also receive Ferret Distemper vaccine which is given at 8 weeks then boosted twice at 3 - 4 week intervals. Thereafter it is boosted annually.

While our other pocket pet patients (rabbits, rats, mice, gerbils, hamsters, and guinea pigs) don't receive vaccinations they still need yearly exams. We monitor their weight, dental health, skin and coat condition as well as doing a complete physical exam from "nose to tail". As pocket pets age they benefit from physicals every 6 months.
